Two Unique Collections – A Gorgeous Garden - ONE TICKET
The Bergen Museum is part of the University of Bergen, and it houses one of the largest collections of cultural and natural history objects in Norway. The Museum was founded in 1825 by Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie.
The Museum has two departments, The Natural History Collections and The Cultural History Collections. The Museum is located in the heart of the University’s main campus area, in two buildings from 1865 and 1927 respectively – surrounded by a splendid garden.
The Museum has exhibits of such variation as massive whale skeletons, beautiful Viking Age objects, unique church- and folkart, and ethnographical material from all over the world. In addition, a large number of other exquisite archaeological, botanical, geological, and zoological objects from both Norway and abroad, are on display.
