The Entomological Section holds scientific collections of insects - Hexapoda, Myriopoda, Tardigrada, Arachnoidea and the Chelicerates. More than 430 000 pinned insects are determined to genus or species levels, 30 000 additional pinned insects are determined to family level. Furthermore the collection holds 42 000 vials with alcohol fixated insects determined to genus or species levels and around 9000 slides. Of groups other than insects there are more than 15 000 vials of alcohol fixated material determined to genus or species levels. In addition more than 1200 dry fixated galls.

The major part of the material is from the twentieth century and specimens are generally available for loan to scientific institutions for research purposes. Persons not affiliated with a research institution must make appointment with some relevant institution which will hold the responsibility for an eventual loan. The museum has modest lab space for visitors. No bench fee is requested.
